I have a 15 month old dog, he has come from a great family and his looks and friendliness are out of this world a great all rounder. I have been thinking of useing him for stud as i am getting very interested in breeding but am finding it very hard to collect information and what to do first.I have also heard that people will only breed from a dog that have a proven show back ground is this true or is being from a good family/health/looks and behaviour ok.I would be very greatful for any information on this matter as i would love to see Tobys children one day.

This "great dog"..what breed is he? Did you buy him as a potential show dog or just a pet? These questions need to be answered HONESTLY, before you can get good advice. Think twice before you embark on using your dog at stud and getting interested in breeding.

I have just been reading the reply and putting my dog up for stud is something I have been seriously considering, but I don't know how to go about it. I have got a 12 month old dog with a good pedigree, he is a fantastic pet and would like some help about where to start.

A "fantastic pet" with a "good pedigree" is NOT going to improve a line or contribute towards the betterment of any breed.............just forget the whole idea.
