hi all, i have been asked recently how much hip scoring and eye testing costs, and i could not give this person the answer, can someone tell me how much they both cost, do they vary around the country?
Many thanks.

The fee for eyes is s standard one if you take one dog to a panelist. If done aspaart of a group testing then it will be cheaper depending on how many dogs are tested.
Hip Scoring varies around the country, but the BVA part of the charge is standard.
Where I live (Bristol) you won't get much change out of £15 for Hip Scoring, but have heard as little as £55 in total being charged in some areas.
I think the eye testing is around £26 for one dog but as Brainless says it is less if you have a lot of dogs to do or can take part in a group testing.
Hips the actual scoring is still under £30 I think but the sedation or anaesthic costs depend on the size of the dog and the cost of actually taking the x-rays also mounts up. I think I paid over £120 for my last one.

I don't understand how it can cost so much for all this from vets.
the lady that we take our newfs to is a newfy lady and a vet, she charges £25 for the lot and then then the scoring costs around £30.
So it just goes to prove that vets all round the county are making a fortune, they must make in their pocket at least £80 per dog.

hips were £75 per dog inc bva scoring and eyes were £50 for two dogs, in lancs area:)
Hi, my two dogs were both eye tested not long ago, total £30 - it's usually more expensive, but is cheaper if the dogs are taken to be tested at sheepdog trials, which mine were. My vet charges near to £100 for hip scoring - said just the anaesthetic is over £50! area - North Wales.

Think I would be somewhat worried if a vet only charged me £25 to x-ray a dog the size of a Newfi - what do they use to put them out a hammer! And the vet in question does several for that?
