Hi all,
Today while I was at work we drove past a car complete with panting in the back, after popping into the office I thought I would stop and have a look in the car if it was still there. Yes, it was still there with a window partially open in the back and a disabled sticker in the front which read time of arrival 10.00am, it was now 11.00am. The car was in full sun. I called over the car park attendant who then tried the various depts in the vicinity but to no avail. I phoned the police and an officer came out but said the car window was open so to moniter the dog every half hour! After he had left we decided to place a white sheet (borrowed fron our ambulance!) over the side of the car. It was now 11.45am. We went back to station returning to the hospital at 12.10 just as a lady was sheepishly placing our sheet on the side of the road. I jumped out of our vehicle and asked the lady who had an elderly man with her, if it was her car to which she replied yes?? I then told her that the dog had been in that car for 2 and a half hours and that the police had been informed to which she replied "did you notice that the dog had water"? I said I had but it wouldn't have helped the poor thing, she said if she hadn't been held up with her hospital appointment it wouldn't have happened!! WHY ARE SOME PEOPLE SO STUPID??

the ignorance of some people really does annoy me,im afraid i would have blown my top and probably smacked their heads together!
your quick thinking with the white sheet probably saved the dogs life :)

i saw the same thing in a supermarket car park 1 hour and 10 mins the dog was in the car with the window only slightly open, i waited for the owners and nearly ended up fist fighting, the lady in question was so abusive. She asked me if i thought it better that she left the dog alone at home with no company! duh!!! no its best to take ur dog shopping then leave it locked in a car in the sweltering heat with no company. Some pple are so thick and it really annoys me!!

some people REALLY!!!!!!! annoy me!!!!
They shouldnt even have dogs! I reckon THEY should be locked in a boiling hot car with the window barely open....oh year...and wearing a fur coat, for a couple of hours in direct sunlight!

The stories you hear in the newspapers about dogs cooking in cars but still people go and do it. I wouldnt even think about Monty going out anywhere in weather like this. It is irresponsible and stupid!

Take a boiled egg out with you.
Next time you see someone leave a dog in their car produce the egg and break it pointing out that the same thing can happen to dogs (and children) very, very quickly. You don't have to mention that the egg was pre-boiled as they will, eventually, cook in the car (says she who forgot to take shopping in one day and ended up with boiled eggs, cooked apples and bananas - who needs an oven in this weather
