A pedigree is basically a traceable family history that lists parents , grandparents, great grandparents etc . If the pedigree has been registered/athenticated by the Kennel Club it provides proof of your dogs parentage . It also helps prove the dog is "purebred" and has no crosses within its lineage
Hope that helps :)

No such thing as far as I know. You can have a 'breed' or a 'cross breed' or a mongrel.
The first being a dog bred from two animals who conform to the 'breed standard' and are recognised by any one of the many kennel clubs. A Cross Breed who is a cross between two of the above mentioned but the dam and sire not often conforming to the 'breed standard' or else they would be used to produce a good example of the 'breed', unless, of course the person doing the breeding is involved in a honest attempt to produce a new 'breed'. And the mongrel is a dog produced by allowing a pair of 'non breed' dogs to produce a pup of unknow conformation or temperment.
