I am Beside myself, My 2 year old cat came in last night and her whiskers have all been cut off, And now want go out the door. I was told by the neighbours kids that a boy whose name i have was threatening to cut some one, and putting two and two together i think its this little monster who has done this to me cat. What are people teaching thier children, where i live it seems to be there is no right or wrong and you can do what you want because nothing will happen to you if you do. I am pretty sure if i confronted his parent they would probably shrug thier shoulders and do nothing anyway. I can't wait to move i have realy had enough. Sorry just letting off steam.

Michele

How awful. Is there nothing that you can do e.g report this to the police. Like you said his parents probably wouldn-t do anything but perhaps you should go and tell them what you believe their child may have done, but on the other hand I suppose you have no proof, just hearsay. Hope the cat recovers.

That is disgusting! Your poor cat! What a little b******d to do that!!!
How old is he, do you know? also, do you know his parents? If they are "decent" parents and not " I dont give a toss about what my kids do" parents, then it would be worth telling her.
I feel so awful for you! If that had happened to noodles I would be beside myself and incredibly angry. Dont let it drop, you must do something about it, for your own sanity and also to stop him from doing this again!
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
So sorry.

that's terrible. Our [when kiddies] cat once had damaged whiskers and I think it takes a few months for them to grow back properly. We had to move a lot of furniture out of the way to stop him bumping into it and limit his going out especially at night - very hard.

I dont know the parents if i did i think i might have a chat even if it is hersay, but i dont want to cause trouble without proof. Im in a no win situation. Ive told the neighbours who said they will keep an eye out for the group of boys, they told the group who the boy was with to get lost last night because they were setting the field on fire. So thinking about it my cat may have got off with minor injuries. In responce to C i never thought about her bumping into things maybe thats part of why she want go outside.

yes - it can be very distressing as you know she needs the whiskers to feel things [like antennae]. If you do a google search you should find a few pictures of the cat's nervous system and how much of it is concentrated in the whiskers. This would be useful to show those little s**ts
If those kids did it - they are a disgrace. I wish I could advise but don't know what is driving them ....maybe you can find out their school and tell the head ...

Hi Michelle, I know its absolutely awful and I'd be fuming if it happened to my cat, BUT, seeing the even worse things that people do to defenceless animals I think it would be better not to confront anyone. Why not write a letter to your local paper warning other owners, at least that might spread the word that there is some trouble making hooligan about.

oh yeah...keep her in for a while. She might get stressed but to be honest, after this, I would be wary of letting her out, especially if she is friendly and goes up to people she doesnt know.
Good luck. I really hope something happens about it. I feel dreadful fro you.

I didnt think of the local press that might be worth a try. As for the little darlings i might start walking my dog down the back lane, Hes as dull as hell but the cat always walks with us they might stop messing around in the lane. The only problem is now she is going to get fat and spoilt because i feel sorry for her. Thanks for all the responce i just needed to vent at someone, im the strange one in the family 'You know the one with all the animals' so they dont see my point of view realy.

Me too. My daughter was none too impressed when I announced that if all goes well we will be keeping a puppy, meaning a 5 dog household.

Honest I have been good, as the youngest one will be 4 in November, and oldest is 11 1/2. But for the last few years she thinks the dogs are definately not cool!

People have now stopped commenting - they just say "you must be mad" in a resigned tone of voice

I don't deny I'm mad - better *mad with animals* than *sad* without!! ;)
