Hi
I have a 3 year old staff who has been diagnosed with lung disease we are waiting to see a specialist to see which one it is and if it can be treated, over the weekend my dog has got worse, his breathing is very erratic and his lungs are filling up with fluid, his is currently on steriods and water tablets of which he is not responding to, my vet doesn't hold out much hope but given his age and that we have pet insurance he thinks that we should have further tests which will cost about £1,000 or so, he has deteriated very quickly within the last week, he is now off his food and being sick (thick flem) if anybody has any comments please help!

Hi Jackie
Many thanks for your comments my dog is currently being seen by the best consultant in the country (we are told) he will not even think about doing an anasetic as my dog is so ill he will come out of it, we should know later today if there is any treatment at all but what has really said that there is not much hope, he tounge and whites of his eyes are blue through lack of oxygen, also not very happy with right side of heart, will know more later will keep you posted

Hi
I wrote recently to advise that my staffy has been diagnosed with lung disease unfortunately he died on friday aged 2 years and 11 months, unfortunately he was diagnosed with fobrosis and there was nothing anybody could have done, so all be cautious any coughing that it is not cleared with antibiotics or laboured breathing, please seek advise it was to late for my dog but may save lives of others if they can control it early enough.
