Just got my Affix provisionally accepted today! YEY!

Just in process of completing all paperwork and health tests on my babes ready for my first leap into the world of dog breeding and showing.

Good luck! Now - as you say - its just a matter of waiting for her to come into season..........and are you absolutely confident that she will come in when she is due????:D

Loki kept us waiting for about 12 weeks after we expected her season last time. Now, with her puppies nearly 8 months, she has come into season again - so we are HOPING (that's all I'll say - hoping) that she will come in again just after Christmas........would mean that she will miss Crufts (which she has qualified for now) ....but spring puppies would be better than winter puppies.

But she will come in again when she is ready!!

If you haven't yet got Book of the Bitch, get it now - it's an absolute godsend!

hopefully!! :-)

I'd prefer to miss this season and go for the next one to allow for puppies in the summer/early autumn rather than Winter - we are expecting them around the mid/end of Dec if all goes to plan.

We have been advised by our vet not to miss her next season. Tara has never whelped a litter before and she has just turned four years old. We were searching for a suitable bitch for a LONG time, one that has the type of bloodlines we were looking for and one with a bombproof temperament, we found her but a 'little older' than i would have liked for the start of our kennel, she looks half her age and acts it! :-) so i'm quite confident she should adapt well to motherhood.

Everything is starting to take shape now and we are REALLY looking forward to kicking our hopefully long and rewarding hobby off with our first official litter.

I'd never heard of the Book of the Bitch until i came across this forum, i'll definitely order a copy, mostly i've been speaking to as many people as possible including breeders, the breeder of my other dogs, and my vet, and gathering as much information as possible from books and the 'net. Just need to get all the health tests for my breed completed and the paperwork sorted and then cross fingers and toes and hope everything goes to plan!! :-)
