This evening my puppy started to shake her head and tilt it to one side. I checked her ear and could not see anything in it, but as I was grooming her it's possible a hair fell into her ear. I do not pull the hairs out of her inner ear, but I suppose something still could have fallen into her ear canal.

If she is still shaking her head tomorrow morning I will take her to the vet.

Is there a home remedy in such situations? The same happened years ago with other dogs and it is bugging me that I cannot remember what to do.

Had a similar problem a while ago but mine was also scratching at his ears and chewing on his front paws alot. Vet diagnosed ear mites with associated infection. He needed antibiotic drops and ear wash every day. Once it cleared i took someones advice and bought Thornit ear powder. He's never had any more problems with ear mites (touch wood).
Hope yours feels better soon.

Thanks Budmag. I am back from the vet and he found wax in both ears. The ear on the side of her head she is tilting was a little red. I have to bring her back on Wednesday. Vet said many times a grass seed gets in the ear and lodges in the wax so the vet cannot see it. If she is not better than he will have to anaesthetise her to remove the wax, as it's too close to her ear drum to risk it while she is awake. In the meantime I have some ear drops which should keep down any potential for infection.
