Topic Dog Boards / Health / Help-pup not eating & dry nose

on monday we took archie (5 months) to the vet as we thought he was a little unwell (very sleepy/listless) the vet said he had a slight temp and an ear infection.
he is on antibiotics and has eardrops too.
we were putting his antibiotic pill into his food and at first he was eating fine.
however, for the last 2-3 days he hasn't really been eating at all. i am having to spoon-feed or hand feed and then he'll except the food (naturediet)

he is generally a very greedy little pup so it's quite worrying that he won;t eat. i know his being unwell could have put him off his food but i also think that perhaps it's because he doesn't trust us not to put yucky pills in his food - could that be the case?

should i keep on hand feeding him? i don't want him to get used to this...does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to get him eating from his bowl again?

he has also had quite a dry nose since monday, prob the temp again? i noticed this morning there were tiny white bits where its getting drier (hope that makes sense??) i.e like really small skin flakes. is there anything i can put on his nose to help him, he's not bothered by it but obviously don't want it to get worse.

thanks.

I don't think that he is not eating because you put the tablets in his food. Is he taking the tablets now? It is important he gets these and they don't get lost in his food. The nature diet may be a little heavy if he is feeling poorly, try scrambled eggs or roast chicken, don't know why but they prefer it roasted (no oil). Hand feed it in tiny pieces until he feels a little better.

Can't help with the flakey nose I'm afraid, perhaps someone else can, what ever you put on it will probably be licked off anyway.

Good luck

Moose has had a funny nose and I have put E45 cream on it or I think others have suggested vaseline.

If you are worried about him then get him back to the vets as the antibiotics should have stared to kick in by now. It could be as well the hot weather that isn't helping.
