Topic Dog Boards / General / hmm drooling boxers??
- By snarfer [au] Date 11.07.03 05:34 UTC
hmm, i'm starting to get confused, i've heard from a few people that boxers are major droolers! but i've also heard that it's quite rare for boxers to drool..can someone please tell me is it common for boxers to drool or not so common?! must relieve curiousity!

Depends on each individual dog.
I have one that does drool a bit and the other two I have had don't.
But they all drip like taps if there's food to be begged :D
My own fault for teaching them bad habits ;)
It honestly depends I've found the droolers tend to be those that
have quite big floppy flews or jowels.
I still love my Boxers though regardless of the 'flobber'
Ace bleach is excellent for getting Boxer flobbers marks off clothes
when you wash them :D

Hi there

We have 6 Boxers and no major drool problems I was told when I started with Boxers the worse the drooling the more incorrect the head I'm sure there are exceptions but I generally find this to be true, except as Boxacrazy has said when there is something very tasty on offer.

we were warned of this before we got bradley. we were also advised at meal times not to give tit bits from the table and to insist he sits in his crate (with door open). when we have all finished give him his dinner.
Or dinner times for us will stimulate him to slober if he thinks hes getting something. his jowls are not that big either so we should be ok.

Hi,mine don't slobber but foam at the lips. They usually do it when i'm out walking them,is this cos they are thirsty or is it just normal?
I actually walked my friends boxer yesterday for the first time, for a start i could'nt believe the size for a 12mth boy and then 10mins into the walk,he began drooling and wouldn't stop, got him home and went straight in the pond.Maybe he was thirsty? but like someone said some are droolers and some arn't,its just the way it is.

I got sneezed on by a horse today - was like that scene out of jurassic park where the big dino sneezes over the girl

does that count? :D

lol.. I get sneezed on by horses nearly everyday.
The worse I've had is on my face full blown, and when leading one on a kiddies ride, in between my legs... Not pleasant!!

We puppy walk for GDBA, and i find, that it is generally the same with Labs, some drool some don't. Our current one only drools when looking at a plasma ball, which i suppose should be worrying!

The boxer I grew up with used to shake his head and let the slobber fly !! If you stood in the way, you'd get covered :) My mum used to spend her entire time cleaning walls :) My boxer pup hasn't drooled at all though, yet...
