we have a 15 week old pup who is not eating too much of the food she is on, we decided to try her out on a different one and know that she should be weaned on to the next one slowly but she only ate the new food and left the old one in the bowl and when we added more of the new one she ate all of it again how will we be able to wean her if she does this ???? any advice would be welcome i have been what you call a "lurker" before i joined this board and have gotten alot of help so keeping fingers crossed that you can help us now

What food is she on and what are you changing to ?
Did you mix the both of them together when you fed her? And if so , how could she only eat the one food ? I'm a bit puzzled here ?

she is on hills and we are changing her to bakers, we do mix it up ,but she still leaves most of the hills

Hi Tommo

Is the bakers a puppy type ?

Did the breeder have the puppy on hills to start of with ? I would have tried to persevere with the hills as puppies often go off their food for a little while and also the very hot weather maybe affect the puppy as well.

I would say however if you are in the middle of changing the food,it is a puupy food, she is just eating that and leaving the other then just stick to the new food as at least you know she is eating so long as she is not having any adverse affects like an upset tummy!

i did at first think it may have been the hot weather that had put her off her food but she ate the bakers straight away ,(this was yesterday and it was one of the hottest days we have had in a while) i am a bit worried about it upsetting her tum so will keep a close eye on her ,thanks for your help
