My girl started her first season 3 weeks ago, she is still very swollen rear end and around her nipples she feels quite lumpy, almost like mastitis. Is this common with first seasons, or do you think I should take her to the vet to get checked out. She is 14 months old.

My bitch just finished her first season and she was swollen for about 4 weeks. The average season is 3 weeks - but some are shorter and some are longer by a couple of weeks on either side of the average.

It does not sound like you have anything to be concerned about right now. Wait a couple of weeks and see what happens.
