my bitch is on her 55th day of pregnacy i have been checking her temperture all day to day and its been up and down lowest it went 99.4 does anyone know what her temp be before she has pups ........ thank you

My own experience is that my bitches temp dropped to 36.9c on the day the pups were born, not sure of the conversion, but it's around 97 ish, so still a big drop, and many days to go yet. Good Luck with the litter.

hi kimberly....puppies born at fifty five days don't survive she probably still has a way to go........57-63 is average.....post ovulation not post breeding

some of my bitch's have dropped as low as 96,but then some have only dropped to 98,litter's born after day 57 can survive,but the longer she keep's hold of her puppie's to due date the better,my last litter of lhasa's where born on day 57 ,yes we did have problem's with milk flow in the early day's ,and we had to hand feed 7 pup's, but it was worth it ,all pup's survived,but it was hard work,nature's nature and your pup's will come when ready,good luck!

my girl is on her 58 day all day today her temperture has been at 99.6 but for the last 15 mins she has been panting, does this mean her pups be here soon ? anyone got any advice ..... this is her second season

If she has started panting it means the pups will probably be here in the next 48 hours - unless she is merely hot. Has she started nesting yet?

no not yet , i thought that she might be panting because shes hot , but today shes been in and out of the garden and shes not been panting , but for the last couple of days she just been laying in her bed now she wont leave my side as of now shes sitting right by me , ( panting ) i have a 8 month dog and he was playing with my son and she went up to my dog and had a go at him , do you reckon i should ask my friend to look after him for a bit till she has her pups

Have you got a knowledgeable friend close by? Or her breeder? Have you told the vet what's happening? What has her temperature been doing? What reference books (about breeding) do you have?

I would personally keep her separate from your other dog if that's what she wants. She's likely to be in some discomfort and is uneasy - the early stages of labour are worrying to a first-timer. She's nervous, which is why she wants to stay close to you. But it could be a couple of days yet. You may have to spend many boring hours sitting (and sleeping) beside her whelping box.

yes shes helped me last time when my girl had pups , shes got the knowledge when it comes to dogs shes brillent , she will even come up to mine when shes giveing birth even if its middle of the night , yes i have informed my vet as for her temperature its been at 99.6 all day just checked her temp and its 98.8 she has stopped panting ?
