Hi I am the new owner of a beautiful 11 week old dobe, the problem being she will not settle by herself. I bought a crate and after the 4th night of NO sleep she is now sleeping in my bedroom on the floor as I can't fit the crate in, I know I shouldn't have given in but it was the only way the children and me could get some sleep. She sleeps right through until 6.30am, brilliant but I don't really want her in the bedroom especially as I have a 5 month old baby also in the bedroom. Also when I go out she does not stop barking from the minute I leave until the minute I come back, this I know from a VERY disgruntled neighbour, I have tried all the tricks that I have been advised to do even squirting her with water, nothing works, please help somebody!!!!!! As me, my children AND the neighbours are getting to the end of our tethers.

Hi you need to make her understand that the crate is her safe place to go too put a nice vet bed in water dish food dish every 10/15mins put a treat in her dish and put her in dont shut door put a big bone /toys as well do this through out the day it does take abit of time but it works then put her in with a hand full of titbits and shut door leave the room just for amin/ or two come in tell her she is so good and let her out you must try to be a bit firm, make sure she has a nice full tummy/ water in dish toys a bone and that she has been into the garden before you put her into her crate for bed turn lights out dont make a fuss when you leave the room close the doorand go to bed she might start but try to ignore her best of luck Jackie.
