I was wondering, chatting with another boxer owner and she got onto a conversation about vet bills etc. The lady said she had a close call with meningitis and had to pay a fortune for treatment.
Can dogs get meningitis? I thought it was a human thing!

No, dogs can get a form of it too. A friend's pup dies of it many years ago.

I know someone with a Boxer who had suspected meningitis and
they had to go to the Animal Health Trust for scans etc.
Yes she did have a hefty bill but mostly covered by Pet Insurance.
Her dog has even appeared in recent vet journals (Photo's of him that is)
He made a full recovery.

My Italian Greyhound had meningitis, because my vet is so switched on he was diagnosed and treated within hours. It cost about £200.
Someone else whose IG had it was not so lucky and ended up at the Animal health Trust and it cost a small fortune. Well over £1000.
Dog Meningitis cannot be passed on from one dog to the other. Jan
