Topic Dog Boards / General / Can a westie flyball

My friend does flyball with her collie and I was thinking about going along with my little westie. He loves chasing and bringing back his ball but I think he might be not able to manage, does anyone know small dogs are able to do flyball, I have never done it before, although my friend assures me that the hurdles are not very high  . He is 2 years old and very fit.

I know that NorthernBytes flyball club used/still have a yorkie who did flyball.

Hi,
Do you mean BFA or crufts type? The two vary greatly. With the Crufts type, the dog has to jump standard collie sized jumps and catch a standard tennis ball. With BFA, I think mini dogs are alllowed to use mini tennis balls and I know they are allowed to jump smaller jumps.

Thanks for the replies, I think it might be BCA although I'll have to check. It can't hurt to go along :) and see how he gets on

I expect they would catch the ball but whether they would bring it back is another matter!! Good luck.
