Hi Linda,
Dog or bitch? Working type or show type?

My working-type bitch weighed about 60lb at 9 months...but she never weighed more than 65lb, and she stood about 24" tall.
:)

Edited to correct the height!!

Hi Jeangenie
She is from show type,Just going to find the tape measure, might take a bit of time in this house to find it.We have our house on the market and every thing has been shoved in any cuboard or drawer.lol

If she's show-type, she'll be shorter, but stockier.

(The best way the measure her height is to stand beside her with a piece of chalk and mark the height of her withers on your leg. Then get someone to measure that distance - you'll stand still and make it easier!)

Are you concerned about her weight?

Yes,i have cut her food down and stopped the tit bits, she is a stockie wee thing. She would just eat and eat this one given half the chance. It,s hard to know just how much to cut the food down too.

The best way to judge her correct weight is not by a chart - that's like saying how much should a 10 year old girl weigh - it varies according to the individual. How easy is it to feel her ribs - or do your fingers have to poke through wodges of flesh to reach them?! When she's standing and you look down on her, can you see a waist between her ribcage and her hips - she shouldn't be shaped like a barrel.

She won't be quite fully grown yet, so don't be in too much of a rush to 'diet' her. Certainly cut out the titbits - her treats should be taken from her daily food ration, and not be extras, and start to increase her exercise a bit. Not too much yet, though. How much exercise is she getting?

Thanks for the post Jeangenie,
No she,s not that bad.Wodges of flesh.Lol.But a big girl never the less.I had her weighed 29kgs.The problem is the tit bits which have all stopped.I gave her tit bits when training and so were the rest of the family when i was not looking 6 of us in this house hold.So no diet just cracked down on the kids for giving her extras.Did have to laugh when i found my 8 year old daughter in the garden sharing a packet of jaffas with her.
Best wishes Linda

There's your answer! :D

How about putting her daily ration of food (works best if you feed dry!) into a container, and all training treats and titbits come out of that?
:)

I would expect my own labs at 9 months to be about 30kgs. I do not have any fat on mine but they are show type labs. When fully mature my bitches weigh between 34 and 36 kgs. Dogs up to 38kgs.
