The last few mornings Cam has had a light green discharge in the corner of one eye. His eye seems fine in all other respects, I just thought it was a bit odd that only one was affected. Any ideas? I'm bathing it with a weak salt water solution.

Hi Jo
I'm not sure what it is, could just be a wee infection, could be nothing at all. I would check that you can't see anything in his eye that could be causing a slight irritation. Also you could try cold tea as that is excellent for bathing eyes with.
HTH :-)

I always use polysporin for eye's one drop (or sab one) 3 times a day for about 3 to 5 days, but only after the eye has been wiped down with a warm cloth. I had a pup in a litter that had a little greenish discharge and this cleared it up. Of course I talked to my vet before I did this and was told if it didn't start to look better after about 2 days to bring him in, but the eye cleared up real nice.
good luck

Hi,
Dylan had a greeny-yellow discharge from his eye last weekend. His eye was also red. I spoke to his breeder who recommended that I get some brolene drops from the chemist and use them for a few days. If it hadn't improved, I was to take him to the vet. However, it was fine after a couple of days. I was also to wipe his eyes with cotton wool (one piece for each eye so as not to cross-contaminate).
HTH,
Sarah

it may be the result of the high pollen count at the moment or hay fever, has he been walking in long grass,i would just bath it with a eye lotion,if the eye will not open and sticky then go the the vets.
Eyes are something I don't take any chances with as there are no spares and they don't regrow :)
If it is white or grey then I would use a few drops of liquid from a fresh but chilled tea bag, removed before milk added to tea. (Or a fresh tea back put into cold water in the fridge).
If any other colour then I would have a word with the vet
Eye infections and extra discharge are quite common whilst they are teething

Hiya..
Cold tea bags are great for eye problems....I use them if any of my dogs have a slight discharge, and most of the time they work.
I'd try that for a day or two, then, if no better...a visit to the vet.
Hope all is ok
Take care
Lisa
