Have noticed the dogs lately have had a skin problem, it comes and goes, I think it is linked to running around in the wet grass? After drying them off, maybe the next day I have noticed that it appears that they are full of literally hundreds of little bumps or "blind" spots on their underbellies, chests and legs, if you run your hands over them there are large areas affected by this. Some become pimples and burst, some are very small scabs, their affected skin becomes very dry and dandruff like symptoms. It does not bother them, no itchiness or inflamation, I am guessing some sort of fungal problem. At the moment the three of them are full of dry/dead skin no bumps/pimples. Anything similar happened to anyone else or recommendations for a good all round Anti Fungal Shampoo?

Hi Ged
My dog Murphy suffers from this sort of thing and the vet gave him cefalexin. Said it was an infection of the hair folicles. Seems to get worse when swimming or up the hills.
Will be interested to hear what others have experienced.

Don't suppose you live near the sea, river etc?
We have been taken over by mosquitos and they are getting into the kennels. They are at their worst around dusk.
My hubby has to go on squatting mission before we lock up for the night. The dogs are unavoidable getting bitten - the mosses get in the house too :-(
The mosse bites are lik lumps/ pimples under the skin -just a thought for you.
We live in North Lincs. by the Humber - right by the river so for us they are a bl***y nightmare!

I never gave mosquitos a thought although we have been getting them up here over the last few years. It doesnt appear to be insect bites, the coat is quite dry and brittle also with dandruf.

Yeh same coat conditions... the bumps, lumps might be best described as a looking like a bad case of nettle rash, (which it is not) but the bumps not as uniform in size and quite literally hundreds of them?
I need to order more Disinfectants from Animal Health Co so I will see what shampoo's are available. My gut feeling is it is damp skin/mite related? Mick If any shampoo works I will let you know!

Yes i have found a really good shampoo called etiderm, you can get it from canine chemists they are advertised in the dog papers or you can order it online. It's wonderful shampoo, I use it on my chinese crested and his skin is absolutely wonderful at the moment.

Hello Ged
I have for the last two days made up a mix of Olive oil and an oil called oilatum that you should be able to get from a chemist mixed with goats milk, all equal amounts then some natural live yogurt and a little warm water and shook up in a bottle to mix it all together well. I then massaged this well into the dogs coat and left it for 10 minutes and rinsed with warm water. So far it has made a great difference to the coats texture and the lumps, and he is no where near as itchy now. I will keep this up for a while to see what the outcome is.
Regards Mick

malaseb is good for skin irritations, and while the blebs are there, give a piriton,
