As my friend's dog has colitis, she spends £18 on special vet's diet (per week), so I suggested she might try Naturediet. Anyway, she phoned them for information, but was quoted it would also cost £18 per week (2 and a half packs a day), so cost-wise she would be no better off (and that was if she ordered 10 cases or more). However, I've ordered a month's supply of Naturediet for my own dog (expecting him to eat 3 packs a day), and the week's supply works out at £12.60 including delivery.
Does anyone else find this variation in price?

My Dandie, who suffered badly with colitis, did very well on Chappie for many years until I could not stand the smell of opened tins in my fridge anymore :), then we switched to Beta which also suited her very well. A friend has recently changed her old dog with a poor digestion to Chappie and when I happened to see her today she said he was doing very nicely.

The most I pay is about 55pence a pack. If I buy a tray of 18 it is about £10.50 to £11.00 depending on where I manage to buy it from. So a tray should last about a week at about £11 but certainly not £18
Hi Jan,
That sounds about right - I paid £8.99 for a tray of 18 (ordered five, then delivery was £6). Can't imagine why it's more expensive through their own website, if others can do it cheaper....

Hi Hilda
I am not sure that is right as we get the Nature diet lite for Min as she suffers from colitis and it works out at 48p per pack ( 8 trays for £8.65 per tray) Delivery is included in this price so I am not sure the price quoted was right. Can i ask what dog your friend has as Min is a large Lab bitch and is quite happily thriving on two packs a day and she is an active dog who goes out for regular runs with our other two Labs of 20 months and 8 months. Not quite as fast but is very active!
I would get her to ring again. I have dealt all along with Amelie who is the Marketing Director, she is very helpful.
Hope that helps
Lucy
Hi Lucy,
My friend's dog is a boxer cross, weighing about 26 kg, and as this is the same as our own dog's weight, I am presuming it would be eating more or less the same amount of the food, so why she was quoted £18 I don't know! Do you get yours delivered from Naturediet themselves then? Wasn't sure whether they did delivery, or just supplied a list of stockists.

Hi Hilda
I get it directly from Naturediet themselves.
I spoke to Ameile the first time I ordered and now I e-mail everytime I need a consignment and she will reply giving price etc and confirms that is it Ok to pay via the last card details I gave them . I confirm back and then it arrives two days later via courier ! Couldn't be easier !
I would say that two cartons would be Ok to start with as Min is quite a big girl ( not fat just a big Lab ! ) and has kept her weight stable. If you think about it when they have colitis they are not getting all the correct nourishment out the food as is goes through too quickly so therefore you tend to feed more to them. With nature diet it will be the opposite !
Hope that helps..
Lucy
Hi Lucy,
Perhaps I'll order my next lot from Naturediet themselves then! What do they charge for delivery?

Hi Lucy (7 weeks and counting??)
I was very impressed with Naturediets service.
I emailed my enquiry, got a response immediately and a posted information pack including pricing and nutritional information
Posted order on Tuesday night and got the food on Thursday morning. 4 cases/72 cartons (my first bulk purchase) worked out at 48p per carton, which is 11p cheaper than our local pet supermarket.
Delivery is included on all the prices.

Hi Julia
They are good aren't they !
I was speaking to Ameile re how impressed I was with the food and how it has had such good results for Min and they are getting a mention in RCVS( or is it RSVC) directory ! My vet wanted them to contact him with all the details as he was very impressed about the results himself.

Hi Lucy
If Vets start selling it, you can guarantee it won't be at the same price as the local pet shop!!!
I wonder if my boys could get by on 2 packs a day. Curently they have it as part of a mixed diet.
Only 31 days!!!! Are you looking forward to it yet?

I suppose it depends on how active your lot are? You work them all don't you so I suppose they get a lot more exercise than my lot. They normally go out for a half hour run a day but Min does not tear arse round like the younger two, more of a jog ! We only have Min on it at the moment as JWB is really suiting the other two and don't see a reason to change unless the price does decrease somewhat which I doubt will happen ! I can send you a picture of them to show you what size etc they all are especially Min and you will see how she is doing on it.
I am sure if it ends up being sold at the vets it will cost a lot more but people should shop around when buying things. The Hills prescription diet that Min was first put on was only available from the vets and I was not going to pay however much it was for it. It was my vet who said to try an alternative food anyway as I questioned the price and the fact that it did not work !
You can see the difference in price getting nature diet from Pet shops rather than directly form the manufacturer and also if you go to pets at home etc you normally end up buying a lot more things than you intended on getting and so you end up spending a lot more.It was my husband that pointed that little gem to me :D
I am sort of looking forward to 31 days time but I must admit I am getting not nervous but excited nervous if you know what I mean? I wish it was sooner as I am struggling to walk now and so 31 days seems a long way to wait but all good things come to those who wait or something like that ! :D

Yeah 2 of mine work and as you so eloquently put it - tear arse around on walks, the other one Chester, ponces about and doesn't even like going for a swim. A mini paddle OK, but swim !!!!!:O The thought of picking something up seems to offend him. Last time I took him out he burried the birds I collected under a pile of leaves:)
I used to do the obedience style working trials out of season and tracking Taz was like being pulled by a steam train, whereas Chester tippy toed everywhere. Taz had towing line for tracking and Ches had sewing thread!!!
I would be interested to see how big in Lab terms your girls are. If you like I'll send you one back & you can see what you think.
It costs me a fortune whenever I go to Jollyes (like Pets at home) as I keep thinking "Oh they'd like that" and "Thats a good offer"....
I know exactly what you mean about excited-nervous. It will be an enormous relief when you can paddle about normally again. At least you know exactly when it will end!! :)

I feed my 17 month old GSD bitch Naturediet and buy it from the local petshop - it is around £11 a tray for 18 packs. My bitch does very well on two packs a day with a little mixer added. I live in the North West and wonder if the cost varies in different regions, as a friend of my sister's from Surrey gets a tray of 18 for about £8.
KJF
Whereabouts in Surrey? Don't suppose it is near me, how do you know how much to feed, does it have recommended amounts on the packet?
Hayley
Hi Hayley,
You can order a leaflet/info from naturediet.co.uk, which has feeding guides for puppies as well as adult dogs, but I expect it would be on the packs as well.

Hi
I get mine direct from NatureDiet. They're in Chiddingfold,Surrey, and you can get it by cash and carry at even cheaper prices per case.
I've got the recent price list and it's £6.25 to £6.55 a case cash and carry, depending on the variety. That works out and under 35p a tray! Wish I lived near enough to collect it!!
You have to get 20 cases though, for cash n carry price.
I usually get 12 cases at about £8.25 a case. That's 46p a tray including delivery.
Whatever...my dogs think it's great!! (Being cavaliers they only get through 2 packs a day between 3 of them, so I think it's good value.)
Sami
Edited cos I can't see the keyboard ...taken contacts out :D
Typical, completely on the other side of Surrey!!! I will have to contact NatureDiet for a leaflet to see how much my two would need, they are 28kg and 36kg so probably a fair amount, so you really not need to supplement with anything else?
Hayley
Hi Hayley,
In the leaflet I've got, for adult dogs feeding, it says for a dog of 30kg, 3 packs a day, for a dog of 35 kg, 3 1/4 packs a day, though they recommend initially feeding 20% less than that. It is a complete diet, so you don't need to add anything to it.
Not all areas have free delivery either - just had a note through to say there is a surcharge for certain areas, of the Scottish Lowlands, Highlands and Islands, Cornwall, North West Wales (that's us!) and the Isle of Wight.
