Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / puppy porridge??
- By Lisa-safftash [gb] Date 25.06.03 19:32 UTC
Hi all,

Well, my first litter arrived last Tuesday, (8 days old now) and all are doing well and have more than doubled their birth weight. We've got 4 girls and 3 boys...they're all gorgeous!!

My breeder mentioned when I start weaning them, to give them puppy porridge.
Is this just normal porridge oats, made with puppy milk?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've read and re-read the weaning section of the book of the bitch, and can't find anything about it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Take care

Lisa

Pedigree make Puppy Porridge. It works very well. Could be that???

She will mean the Pedigree puppy porridge its excellent I always use it for young puppies, only time I use pedigree products. Depending whereabout s in the country you are, where your nearest pick up point will be, you cannot buy this from the shops

Don't forget though, that to pick up Pedigree Puppy porridge, you have to be a member of the Pedigree Breeders club, and have a membership number.

Hi, I make puppy porridge using soaked puppy Eukanuba, whizzed in a food processor, and mixed with warmed Goats Milk.
bye

Thanks all...

I know my breeder feeds 'pedigree' food, so it could well be that.

Gwen, thanks for the idea of eukaneuba and goats milk...

Would a puppy milk such as lactol mixed with the puppy food be okay?

Thanks

Lisa

theres something going on about the pedigree puppy porridge, im not sure if it got sold with the advanced range, --but whoever has it i find it great, ive used it on all my litters now, thickening it up as i go along, then adding to it,

I've heard that too, Dizzy - Pedigree have got their knickers in a twist now - the only food we could by from the breeder outlet was some new stuff that is useless on our dogs, and husband says they're discontinuing Puppy Porridge, which was brilliant.

Hi still had my tub of the porridge,(empty)LOL! pups loved it, its now called Advance puppy weaning food it comes in a 3kg tub which did me for my litter of 7 puppies, after all they are only on this for a couple of weeks before introducing puppy food.

Hi
I have used Ready Brek, and both of my puppies ( Basset Hound and Yorkshire terrier ) have just loved it you can make it with Lactol or goats milk or pasteurised milk.
Give it a try.
