Another very good book is "Reproduction of the Dog". My girlfriend who raises Std Poodles swears by it. I think that is the correct title but the word "of" could be "in". She had raised many litters with many of the puppies achieving their Canadian Kennel Club Championship. Her puppies have been placed in pet and show show homes across Canada, United States and recently a Show Puppy found a home in Australia.

I personally raised Wire-Haired Fox Terriers and found that one can never stop learning about your breed. There is always something new coming out in seminars, books, tapes etc to increase your knowledge. The more you know the better you are equipped to handle the joys and the sorrows that arise with breeding a litter. Things can go wrong. I have lost puppies at two weeks and nine months but knew at the time of birth that I shouldn't had placed that puppy. It is a heads up, sometimes heartbreak undertaking. That is why it is so important to be very well prepared before you go into this endeavour. ;)
