Dear All
Please help me.
I have two Lhasa's that I love very dearly. Today my eldest dog, Storm who is eight was rushed in to surgery with abnormal bladder problems. The vet thought that it may be stones.
He has put a tube into his bladder and into a bag temporarily whilst he decides what to do. He said that he can divert his plumbing so that he will Wee through a new hole just under his bum. He cannot do this though until Storm is strong enough to withstand the surgery.
He is not a sicky dog and has never caused me any trouble. The vet has found that the Urethra is being blocked by Severe Calcifcation of the tissues around this area. He does not have stones in his bladder or his Urethra, just abnormal deposits of Calcium in the surrounding tissues between his Penis and his bladder (ie. The Urethra) His urethra tube was very mushy and he found it hard to distinguish between the organs the Calcium Deposits.
I need advice urgent. I don't want to loose my dog. I love him to bits and he has never been ill or in any discomfort (apart from the last few days)
Has anyone ever heard of this Problems???? Please can you help??? I have to move fast and make some decisions over the next days.
Thank You

Sorry, Icant offer much help either, not heard of this happening before, but just to let you know I will keep fingers and toes crossed for you, I know in huymans they can do a "re-implantation of the uretha" because ive had this done roughly 15 years ago and im fine now.

AS you have already had vet advice, with all the training and knowledge that your vet has, I would suggest that you go along with what your vet says.

Hello sorry to hear about your dog and yes i have come across this when i worked at some English Mastiff kennels two of there males had to have this surgery it works out okay and it is very common because of the dry food we all feed our dogs, you will have to find /change the food you feed he will be better on meat and biscuit meal you have to keep the hole clean but isnt to much trouble hope all goes well Jackie.
