When you say the dog "turned " - what exactly caused the dog to bite you ?
Did you have any problems beforehand or was this completely out of the blue ?
Dogs can attack for a number of reasons - health problems , poor training , being teased , etc .Not that I am implying any of these apply to you or your dog . You cannot always blame the beeder in a situation like this

Hiya - Sorry to hear of your sad news. Did he ever show any other signs of aggression - you said you have had him for 5 years :) Did you keep in touch with the breeder, throughout this time? If he hasn't shown aggression in 5 years, then I feel perhaps it is not his breeding at all, but may have some other explanation.
I get the impression from your post that you are very angry - I may be wrong.
I wonder though, if I was faced with this situation, if the money aspect would be on my mind, or whether I would be more upset that a 'member of my family' had attacked me? You refer to your dog as 'it', is this because you are annoyed with him?

Sorry - I know this must be a very very difficult time for you - but I don't see after 5 years how you think you can have any recourse to the breeder. Any breeding problem in temperament would have shown long long before now and over five years your influence will have been much more than the breeder could have left. It's also rather late in the day to be questioning how pure bred you believed him to be.
I am very very sorry for your loss and hurt - but don't feel you are taking the right path at all.

Does this dog have a name? Maybe the breeder can be identified from the kennel name......... Ofcourse you will have had an autopsy done to ensure there were no medical reasons for this turn in behaviour (such as thyroid gland or arthritis). I can't see any court in the land forcing the breeders to pay out in the absence of such a report.....

you bought a puppy from a farm five years ago and now you want your money back!!!!!!!!!!!
Even if you could find them do you realistically think you'll get anything back!!!!!!
If you thought you were buying a purebred golden retriever surely it would have come with papers

Hello,
I'm afraid that I agree with everyone else - I don't think that you will have any success in going back to the breeder. Did you have an examination done on the dog, could there have been an underlying medical reason why he would suddenly turn on you? I too have a golden retreiver, and he's a very sweet dog - I know that all dogs are different - but if this was out of character for my dog, I would certainly be looking into all and any possibilities, especially before having him put down :( It's very sad.
