I am a * year old boy and would like a Siberian Husky as a pet. My parents would like to know if the breed has a good temperament, any special needs or requirements. Also what price should I expect to pay for a puppy. Are there any places I can obtain a 1 or 2 year old dog?, or would it have to be a puppy
Thanks.

Hello guest, the siberian husky is not a breed for everyone. They have wonderful temperaments and love everyone, but have no guarding instincts so they would welcome strangers into your home. They basically are not a one man dog. They are not very obedient and although they understand you it does not mean they will do it. They can be very destructive if bored such as digging and chewing. So they need company and alot of exercise to keep them stimulated. One of the biggest factors is that they can not be let off the lead. They have a very strong desire to run and may not come back. So I would suggest that your garden has a 6 foot fence all around or they may escape. They are known to howl because they enjoy it but they do not bark very often. They love to hunt and kill so this is another reason why they can not be let off the lead. They are very intelligent and forgiving and get on well with other dogs. They do not smell but do moult so be prepared for alot of hovering! They are alot of good points about this breed, but for every good point there is a bad point.

Hi Liam if you visit the siberian husky club website it tells you all about the breed. Why don't you contact some breeders they will be able to help. Make sure they are reputable and have their dogs hips and eyes tested.
