Gus is on Hills Complete but he adores sardines and tuna .
I know that the oil is good for their coat and adds shine but given that the Hills IS supposed to be a complete food , do you think adding a small portion of either sardines or tuna each day would be ok ? I do mean just a small portion too .
Or would you just add a little once a week ? Is fish good for them or is it more the oil its in ? I dont want to upset his nutrient balance too much.

Mine get a tin of sardinesor mackerel twice a week each, they love it and they both have good coats and are healthy, I just give them a little less complete food when I give them their treat. I can't see how it could do them any harm. As for the bits of toast, digestive biccies that they get off the kids ................

A big tin of pilchards in oil or tomato over 3-4 days with slightly less of the dried food, he absolutley LOVES it, mind you, don't let them come up and give you a big kiss afterwards!!

Just keep clear of the ones in brine. The salt in the brine will do them no good at all!

Sal has sardines or pilchards or on occasions sild in tomatoe sauce on a Saturday evening (while we have a curry) She adores it mindyou so do the cats they have their share as well. But it has to be in Tom sauce though.

Mine get fresh sardines, herrings or mackeral as an occasional treat. I cook them in the pressure cooker for about 12 mins, and they eat the lot. The cat also gets some.
