I have seen a German Shepherd 10 week old bitch puppy from a rescue centre
that I am interested in. I all ready own a German Shepherd cross that I got
from another rescue centre, who has a lovely temperment. When I enquired
about her, they said she is already showing German Shepherd traits if you know
what I mean. No I dont know what they mean, can any one enlighten me.
They said she was brought in because her first owners did'nt know what they
were taking on. Can any one help please. From Wendy.

Hi everyone what I would like to know is why on earth is a 10 week old puppy is in rescue where are the breeders and why on earth did the new owners not read and talk to people before they took on a Gsd, I feel so sorry for this little girl, why did the new owners not go back to the breeders and tell them that they were having problems, or maybe they did and the breeders did not want to know, so once again we have the scenario of probably a breeder who could not care less and the ignorance of new owners who think that they are just cute balls of fluff, please take on this puppy and give her some love in her life, my litter is the same age and the owners were given a contract to say that if they could not look after the pup it must come back to me, at least I would know what was happening to them, anyone have any more thoughts

Well said!
Absolutely. It sounds as though the rescue centre doesnt really know what they are on about if the only bit of advice they could give was " if you know what i mean". Poor little girl I bet you could give her a great life. Whoever bred her needs a.......good talking too (thats the nicest way to put it)
Is she a pue GSD?? Or was it some sort of "accident" while out in the park with an un-castrated dog and un-spayed bitch, and maybe she was given away by the "breeder"?
Some people are so stupid if she had been bought and then given away. It is so true, people are attracted by the "cute" look and think, "arr, lets get it" with absolutely NO clue at all on how to take care of it.
Get in there and give her a great life, sounds like she deserves it.

p.s, janines, good idea with the contract, I think all breeders should do that.

"owners were given a contract to say that if they could not look after the pup it must come back to me"

Unfortunately, even this does not guarantee that the dog will be returned to you. Unless you have regular close contact with said puppies, you will never know if they have been rehomed. Providing a contract is better than nothing though :-)

Think this little dog is just *being* a puppy!

I agree Lara. Guest, if you like the puppy then why not give it your best shot. All dogs need training and at 10 weeks, you have a blank canvas :-)

Thanks Admin, yes I agree with what you are saying but I do have regular contact with the pups new owners weekly in fact, the way that I look at it is if you breed a litter you should be willing to provide a back up service for the rest of the pups lives, we are the ones that caused them to be born and therefore should take responsibility
