My staffy has had a cough for sometime which they have ruled out kennel cough and is now treating him for lungworm which the vet doesn't think that he has but needs to rule this out, he ha prescirbed antibiotics and an injection but my dog seems no better and sounds like sammy the sea lion

Comments much appreciated

If your staffy has been eating slugs or snails or even the grass they've slithered over then Lungworms is very possible. It is simple to cure with a 7 day course of Panacur Wormer, I don't understand why your vet hasn't prescribed this as it is standard treatment for Lungworms, antibiotics would only help if the dog has an infection of some sort. Lungworms cause the dog to produce an excess of fluids in the lungs to encourage it to cough so that they expell more eggs onto the ground.

Thanks for your comments on the 17th with regards to lungworm we have been back to the vet and this now appears to be collapsed trachea which they will confirm after they have done some xrays and an endoscopy.

Many thanks
