Just thought i would see due to the wealth of knowledge on here.
A friend of mine is looking to get a Cairn Terrier puppy and i was wondering if anyone on here knew of a good breeder.
I have talked her into looking for a good breeder rather than just picking one out of the paper.

We have been through the names on here and so far no luck
Any help will be much appreciated.

Where does your friend live? There are regional breed clubs and all of them have contact names for puppies. I will post Breed Club contacts for you to give to her. There is also a Cairn match show in Reading in July, if your friend is in the area it would be a great place for her to meet breeders. Very glad you talked your friend into finding a good breeder.

Two suggestions: Dogs Today magazine has lists of breeders; also if your friend goes to a KC dog show on terrier day, they will sell programmes which list contact details for all the breeders. This will at least give your friend something to start from.

The Cairn Terrier Relief Fund is a good point of contact if your friend might consider rehoming a Cairn, but I don't believe a huge number end up in rescue so this is not necessarily a means to getting a dog more quickly.

She is not in a rush, after speaking to her about finding the right pup from the right breeder she is willing to take time and find the right one.
She will not be looking to bring a pup home till next year si she has plenty of time to look up the right people and attend breed clubs and shows.
She has written to the Southern Cairn Terrier Club and is waiting for a reponse.

I was not sure from your reply if you wanted the names of some breeders, if so, please let me know and I will email them to you.

In the meantime, the Cairn Match, which is run by the Southern Cairn Terrier Club, will be held on 19 July at Grazeley Village Hall, Grazeley, near Reading. It starts a 10 am and ther will be lots of breeders attending. You can also find information about the match on the Southern Cairn Terrier Club web site.
