Our dog has always been really excited about eating. He loved his food, but for the past couple of weeks it has been a battle to get him to eat much at all.
He has always had dried food with warm liquid added, and some vegetables - e.g. carrots/broccoli etc.
We thought he might be getting bored of the one type of food all the time and as he was breaking through the puppy/adult boundary at 11 months we thought it was time to give him a wider variety of foods.
He had previously been fed Royal Canine and so we tried Eukanuba. He liked it for a little while - especially a mixture of the 2, but now he isn't really eating much at all. We introduced some wet food from packets in the hopes that it might tempt him, but even this is losing its' appeal.
Apart from chicken and rice - which are his ultimate favourites, but a bit time consuming to make every day, does anyone have any suggestions of how to make food in his bowl interesting again?
Thank you.

Is it just the warm weather ? Our older dog went off his food the first summer that we had him - he was just getting too much :)

Have you tried zapping the Royal Canin in the microwave for about 10 seconds. Lady on their stand at a show gave me that tip when mine wasn't eating, worked a treat. It brings the oils to the surface and smells nice.

Thank you for your responses.
The hot weather does seem to have affected him a little, but I tried the microwave tip today and it has really worked!
He plunged into his food and even wanted more!
Not sure if we have solved the problem after only the one day, but thanks for the tip, and at least we'll know he has had a good meal in him today.
Any more suggestions are really welcome in case the microwave trick starts to wear off!

The answer to all your problems is in the old adage 'If it ain't broke - don't fix it'.
If your dog is eating his food without problems then don't change to summat else. Dogs are creatures of habit (I bet yours knows when it's feed/walk time), and will happily eat the same diet (age//breeding/health changes apart) all their lives.

Good to see your back with the Royal Canin. I feed Burns meself and find they love it.

Good luck
