Now I really am a Champdogger ... posting a question about my puppy's toilet habits!

Sorry people, here goes:

1. When my pup does a "number two" so to speak, it seems to take him a while (much effort and pained expression seem to be involved). He also goes in about three different places. Is this unusual? His stool is slightly loose but not too bad.

2. I've never had a boy dog before so I'm not sure if this is normal or not ... after having a wee my pup seems to carry on spotting for a while.

Should I be alarmed at any of this?

Thanks

Jo

Edited to add: He seems absolutely fine in himself, but only passes about two stools a day - he's on four feeds a day.

Hiya
I am a little confused. In your edit you say he is fine and producing about 2 stools a day. If this is the case then you dont have anything to worry about. really. It is pretty normal. With regards to the main post saying that he cant do one, he could be constipated. what is he eating? Discuss it with your vet but liquid paraffin sorts that out no problem.
But, this aside, if you feel something is wrong, it doesnt matter what any of us say, he should see the vet, just to ensure he is alright.
Good luck and i hope everything is ok
