I recently got a new puppy, at first my dog didn't like her, bt now they get along great. The problem is that when we go out and a strange dog goes to see my puppy, my doga is very possesive of my puppy. If the strange dog is quiet or playful, nothing happens, but if the strange dog growls at my puppy, my dog goes off on the strange one. I would rather just let the owners deal with the growling, but my dog growls real fierce, his fur sticks out and he won't let it go. I have to pull him away physically. So, how do I teach him that the owner will deal with it, not him?
