Sorry, but I'm asking more beagle questions. Can any beagle people recommend a collar to use for showing beagles. I've tried a few different collars, from nylon, half-choke, and also thin choke chains on my 9 month old pup. Sometimes they're fine but sometimes they tend to either slip down her neck so that she starts 'goose necking' or she starts choking. The latter was a problem at a recent show - I felt like I was choking the poor dog. I've also got a thicker choke chain seems better but doesn't look as attractive. I also don't know what people's opinions are on using choke chains. Any advice is appreciated.

For my beagle i have a 18 inch hexagonal link chain and a 3/8 inch leather lead. The chain looks very posh but i find they are less harsh than the conventional choker chain although they work in the same way. I tried the thin nylon all in one slip leads as i'd seen them being used at Champ shows but my beagle is a bit strong making the nylon uncomfortable to hold.
There is an exellent shop, www.petcetera.co.uk. This site was recommended to me by someone else. I ordered the things over the telephone to make sure i was ordering the right things. They were really helpful and i got the stuff in the post the next day. Hope this info helps if you need anything else just ask.

Thanks for that info. I've just had a look on the web site but there are no pictures available so they're going to send a catalogue in the post. The prices seem very reasonable anyway. I've tried a thin nylon lead but that slips and the current choke chain I use at the moment is quite thick, although this doesn't seem to choke her, it doesn't look very attractive. Hopefully in time she'll get used to walking with her head up - do beagles ever?
I've noticed the company also do benching chains. As I've got my first benched champ show in August, this is something I need to consider. What do you do with your beagle - do you put him in a crate or use a benching chain. I must admit I don't like the idea of leaving them but I understand you can only have them with you if you're exercising them.
