my dog is pregnant-about a few days shy of 8 wks--she is making milk--i think i read somewhere that means she is gonna give birth in 12 to 24 hours--does anyone know?

Hi my girl is on day 59 and she started getting milk about 5 to 6 days ago.I still have no pups:) I have also heard that during their last week the milk will come in,hopefully this is true as Lola should be getting very close to whelping.Are you seeing any other signs,I have no discharge yet but I can feel the pup(s) moving inside her:) Do you know how many pups you are expecting? yes --i think she might be starting to have a discharge--i noticed this evening when we were sitting on the back porch (wooden) that there was a wet spot where she sat--thats when i checked her to see if she had milk yet--but unless im wrong--which i could be a week off --she isnt 8 weeks till tuesday--dont know how many--we are winging it on this one--my hubby got cut to 3 days a week and cant afford vet right now--she is doing fine though--have dealt with many dogs all my life==just had never heard of that about the milk

My girl was full of milk at least a week before whelping she also had the clear mucous discharge from week 5 onwards! My vet said it was nothing to worry about just signs of hormonal changes in her body and that everything was going the way it should be!

Hi,are you taking her temp or to those who answered did you take your girls temp?Lolas temp has been on the low side the last few days 98-high 99'ss.Then today when I took her midday temp it was 97.2 but this evening it shot back up to 98.9.Is this normal or is your girls temp similar?I noticed clear discharge about 4 weeks into pregnancy but lately I have not seen any.We are now on day 60 and have been full of milk for at least 6 days.She does not seem to be showing any signs of labor,I guess I just need to be patient.Any advice would be greatly appreciated:) Melanie

When the temperature drops it is ususlly a sign of the onset of teh first stage of labour.... Uncomfortable, restless, panting and nest making. The second stage contractions time is ususlly preceded by a rise in temperature. Our girl was stuck in First Stage Labour for 36 hours - the vet suggested all sorts of things to get the uterinal inertia gooing again... the car journey to the vets at midnight did the trick
