A method that I have heard of is to try and not treat the elder dog in a usual manner, withdrawing treats not making quite so much of a fuss of in the week or 2 running up to the new arrival.
Then when the new arrival comes along, make a big fuss of the old dog, so he associates the exaggerated fussing with the pup thus the pup with good feeling.
Only a method that I have heard of.

Ask the breeder to bath the pup so it is not smelling of a strange kennel, and carry the pup in your lap on the way home so it picks up your smell, when you get home sit in the garden or in a room and get someone else to let the older pup into you. Make a fuss of the older dog with the pup still in your lap. The older dog will sniff at the pup but will be more interested in greeting you. When you think things are calming down put the pup on the floor and call the older dog to you giving it a treat. Then, and this is the difficult bit, try very hard not to interfer whilst the older gets used to the pup. Some dogs as opposed to bitches are very worried about pups and take a while, sometimes up to 10 days, to accept that the pup will not explode or otherwise cause havoc. Bitches put pups in their place and then walk away.
