Hello I have a 11 1/2 week old Chihuahua puppy weight 2.6 lb. I was wondering how much food he should have in a day?
He is eating Iams Puppy 1-12 months (dry food)
the bag reads for a 3-5 pound puppy between 6-11 weeks 1 1/8- 1 1/2 cups a day,
this seems like a bit much to me, what would anyone suggest
any info will help,thank you

Hi Gizmo (funny, that's what my friend insists my Peke's name should be),

After all of the trials and tribulations with my little guy (who is about the same size as yours), he seems to be gaining weight on about 100-110 kcal/day. If your bag says the kcal content, you could base it on that. With all of my previous pups and dry food, I have generally just left a full small bowl down and let them eat at will. I don't know if this is advised with your breed as I have not had a chihuahua before.
