Hi, I have a gorgeous Lhasa Apso/Male. I would like to get a Companion for him, I have thought if to get another Male or to get a Female. I have decided that I would like to get him a 'little wife', so I am looking for a Lhasa Apso/Female approximately 0ne Year old who has'nt been spayed. If they have One litter of puppies (which they probably will) I would like to keep one of the puppies so as they make a little family. I would then take them to the vets for the necessary. I am not looking to go into full time breeding, only what I have stated above. Could anyone help.

Your boy is probably gorgeous, but do you know if he is an excellent specimin of his breed. If you breed from him and the bitch you hope to buy how will you deal with the responsibility to the rest of the litter. Will you know that the dog and bitch will be compatible as regards health traits and breed points. It takes some experience to rear a litter, and it can be heartbreaking if things go badly, and then there is the worry of finding good homes for the pups. If things go badly in the new home you will be morally bound to take back a puppy, or mature dog several years later which may not fit in well with the relations at home. You may find you have taken ona problem pup and cannot cope. Also to just breed one litter you will probably find yourself well out of pocket after doing the Health Screening, paying Stud Fees, buying Equipment, Stud Fees etc. You will also need to be at home for possibly 3 months of constant work.

Unless you plan to make Dog Breeding a lifes Obsession, I would advise to buy yourself another puppy, and make up your canine family that way, and have each neutered to prevent accidental litters!
