very sadly i was told by my vet that they are almost certain my yorkie has a brain tumour they have given him steriods which supporting his system his legs were collapsing before he had the steroids.and a cortizone injection. the last time i took him up to the vets he got very stressed in the waiting room with the long wait and going in a car.they think its a matter of mounths.do vets do home visit and is it expensive i thought i would ask here first before i ring them up.
the steriods are making him very hungry with no exersise he is putting on wheight it does not help his situation.from yorkie family

I am sorry to hear your dog is unwell. Eight years ago my Rotti was diagnosed with bone cancer and he went down hill very fast. My vet did come out to the house to see to Demus as he didn't like going to the surgery and it was quite difficult for me to get him there as he wasn't very mobile towards the end. My vet didn't charge me extra, but then I had been with them for a while, but I think there is usually an extra charge for a home visit. Your best bet would be to ring them in the morning and find out what their procedures are.

So sorry to hear about your yorkie.

Any time that I've had a home visit from the vet, I do get charged but I find that if they come at a time of their choosing.... on route to another call out.... then I get charged for a "passing visit", rather than the full amount of a special visit at a specific time.
This would probably only work with large animal practices that go out every day to farms etc. but it might be worth checking with your vet to see if they operate a system like this.
