We have a 14 yr old springer and are considering getting a puppy. Do you think this is a good thing for our elderly dog or should we be looking towards an adult companion?

My mum has a 12 year old springer and she had a new pup from us last year.Initially there were a few probs with the pup wanting to play all the time and the older dog getting fed up but they settled down after about 4 weeks and are now the best of friends.
