My westie seems unable to put his back left leg down. When he is sleeping the leg is jumping as though he has a nerve in it. My vet diagnosed arthritis, but I am not so sure. He is on Metacam, which is only making him lethargic and doesn't seem to be helping the leg which he continually hold up. He seems a little tender at the elbow joint. Please does anyone have any suggestions? His illness is made even worse by the fact that our Doberman died recently and Dougal really misses him as we all do.

Hi,
I would guess he is fairly elderly, have you tried a magnetic collar, 4 of our 7 dogs wear one and they do make a difference, the BIO FLOW ones are the best!!
If he misses his mate, you could try giving homeopathic Ignatia, this is for dogs who are pinning for a friend, I have recomended it twice with 100% success rate, so far so good!!
