Our dog has recently been leaving small deposits from his anal glands around the house. He is 15 weeks old. They of course are quite unwelcome and I wondered if anyone else has had this problem. The vet has emptied his anal glands just in case but he has since left us little presents on the carpet and furniture! We're hoping he is just going through a phase and he'll grow out of it.

Don't think this is just a phase your puppy is going throu. How long is it since your vet emptied the anal glands ? Perhaps another visit might be in order as the glands may have become infected, hence the deposits.

Hi Margaret,
The glands were emptied a few days prior to the 'deposits' appearing again. Also we tend to get the odd smell but no visual evidence?
Thanks for your comment.

Are you sure it isn't just wind? :)

Hi,

Some dogs are more prone to anal gland problems than others, one of our old beardies, years ago had to have hers removed when she was quite young because they were always getting infected.

We also had a Cavalier, years ago again now, who had to go to the vets every 4-6 weeks and have hers emptied, luckily she was taking part in a heart murmer study and because we offered for her to be scanned and monitered every time they wanted, she had them done for free!!!

I would get them checked as soon as possible, anal glands can be a real pain in the bum....you know what I mean!! :D

Hi Manda,
He is due to go to the vets next week so i will mention it again. I can bet he'll be one of the sort who'll have problems!
Thank you for your comments.
