Hi.
My six year old border collie x is lame in her back leg after resting. She started off with a slight limp which has progressed to him not putting his leg down for about three or four strides after getting up from laying down for a period of time. Has anybody any idea what this could be. He seems to be running around as normal otherwise.

could be arthritis. That's how I noticed it in my springer and an x-ray confirmed it.

Have you thought of/heard of/ tried glucosamine? It is amazing for dogs with sore joints.

A GSD I had with displaysia would sometimes have difficulty standing after she had been resting a while in the same position. Agree that this could be a sign of arthritis. It might be something else entirely which is affected by pressure on the leg during rest. Best to check with the vet to be sure.
