Hi, I need some advice on how to plan for a successful relationship between two male mini schnauzers. My mini is approx 5 months old and my sister is planning to get her 8 week old puppy at the end of June. We need them to get on with each other because when one of us is on holiday, the other will mind both dogs. Oscar has a lovely temperament, not aggressive at all, likes to socialise (and this is improving all the time due to training cub) but he does get bored of other dogs quite quickly. What I would like to know is when should we do the first introduction, whose territory, how often etc. and any other advice that may help with this. Thanks.

a couple of weeks ago i had the same thing..i have an 8yr old Male Mini Schanauzer and i now have a 9wk old Male Mini Schanuzer....i did some research and i introduced them in the back garden first...just like they were out and about meeting one another...then i took them inside and all went well.
(unfortunatley my older dog does not like the pup, i think its because he is nipping all the time, but with age they will become best friends...you have the advantage as you only have a 5 month old so he is still a puppy himself!)
my Grandmas dog and the pup get on great! They see one another a couple of times a week and they are very happy to play and snooze together...just let them get on with it! Dont interupt them unless you fear for either dogs saftey! they will sort it out between themselves :)
