Poppy has got through another bout of Bladder stones and although it has taken it's toll on her(& us)she seems ok...................until Thursday when I noticed that her face was drooping down and when I felt her neck she had a large mass(hard)around the throat area, my immediate thought was Lymphoma. We took Poppy to the Vet on Saturday and she was given an injection of anti biotic/anti inflammatory, we are to take her back to the Vet Monday, this is to deside on the course of action depending on the Lumps size. This morning(Sunday) the lump has gone down a bit, so if it was Lymphoma would I be correct in saying that it would have stayed the same? Or am I just hoping?
We have had a sleepless few nights worrying as you can imagine.
Cheers

I would imagine that as your vet gave an antibiotic injection it's more likely to be swollen glands or perhaps a sting and the fact that the size of the lump has decreased is also very promising. The vet may wish to try keeping your dog on the antibiotics a little longer to see if the swelling keeps going down, fingers and toes crossed that this is all that Poppy needs.

If the swelling is going down after an antibiotic, it's likely to be an infection, and the lymph glands doing their job.
Fingers crossed.

We took Poppy back to Vets today and although the lump has decreased slightly the Vet is of the opinion that that is only the inflammation surrounding the Mass has decreased and the Core is still there. Poppy had a fine needle aspirate done, she never flinched(Bless her) we should get the results this week, whilst this procedure is not necessary as informative as a Biopsy we are not prepared for Poppy to undergo a GA.
So another long week ahead!

I had a needle aspirate done on my dog - all her lymph glands were up. It came back clear. She died several days later - it was lymphoma and the result was incorrect :(. Hope yours is a different story!
