Hi there,
a couple of people have told me that if you breed your dog that the mother will not like it if you keep one of the female puppys. But other people have told me this is rubbish and they will get on fine, but none of them seem to have any actualy experience of this. My bitch is very friendly and I think she would be fine, but I would like to check first.
Advice from people who have been in this situation would be great.
Thanks very much.

Some breeds are fine - some aren't :) What breed do you have?

I kept mother and daughter and they fight but then they are terriers so as has been said it really depends on the breed you have. Also, I think, it depends on the age of the bitch too.

The breeder I got my pup from (Golden Retriever) has got 5 bitches, all closely related with many being mother and daughter relationships. They all get on fine.
Best wishes,
Sarah

I have four female geneartions, and no problems with any of them. They are 11, 8, 5 1/2 and 3 1/2 years old.
The oldest until recently has been top canine, but it looks like number 3 has quietly beeen allowed to take over since she had a litter recently, as I notice that the others let her pass before them etc.
There is no lording it by any of them, and no-one is allowed to take advantage or liberties with anyone els.
We had 3 generations of black labs, Mum got on fine with both Daughter and Grandmother, but Granddaughter and Grandmother had their moments as both wanted to be top dog, nothing too heavy and granddaughter had the grace to wait until the old girl was very old before taking over - both were happy with that
All the best whatever you decide

I had had mother and daughter and both were inseperable ! Min the daughter never bothered to clean herself and always let Mars the mum do it right upto when Mars was PTS at the grand old age of 14 3/4. Min now has taken on this role with Moose (not related) and mothers her, she even cleans herself now !!
I wouldn't worry!

I have a mother and two daughters from seperate litters and they all get on fine. They are Staffies too :-)
Even though they get on fine would not leave them alone unsupervised, but that is just being sensible like with any household with more than one staff :D
