Topic Dog Boards / General / Slippery crate

Dylan has a crate which he sleeps in both during the day and at night. The breeder gave me a large piece of vetbed when I picked him up, which fits the crate perfectly. However, Dylan has today discovered that the metal tray is really nice to sleep on (I think he likes the cooler temperature of it). Now I don't have a problem if he wants to sleep on the hard tray when I have got lovely soft vetbed for him  :) However, his paws slide around on it which can't be much good for him. Is there anything I can put in there to keep the coolness he likes, but give him more grip?

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi,

The only thing I can think of is a piece of Lino and somehow fix it to the bottom of the crate. Maybe if it fits tightly enough, he won't scrape it up and if you got a bit with a pattern on, it might give him a bit more grip.

Try a Turtle Mat, they have a toweling top and a rubber back which stops them slipping. You can even put vetbed on top of it if required. They are easily washed and dried in a machine. Watch out for cheaper versions, the rubber backing wont hold up to too much washing.
My pup doesn't like to sleep on vetbed either, too warm, but will accept the mat.

I use a shower mat with the suckers underneath with vet bed on top, not if they are chewers though.
