Hi
My girl is day 64 today, I've never had a dog go over the 63 day mark is this normal?
She is showing signs of going into labour ie. not eating, staying in her bed alot, last night she was sick a few times and she's also cleared out bottom end..............but no signs of panting yet!! My vet said it was quite normal providing no green discharge and straining without producing a pup. This is her first litter, so I'm a little anxious in case of problems.
Thanks

Sometimes the eggs mature in the womb after ovulation which can account for a couple of days discrepancy and some breeds do tend to err on the 63+ day side.
Have you been monitoring her temperature? to see if things are about to happen.
Unfortunately it is a waiting game... if the vets happy, you bitch is happy (or at least not distressed) relax as best you can and keep an eye on her.
When our girl had her first litter the first sign of an imminent birth was virtually the delivery of pup number 1 she didn't bother with all the "signs" straight down to business!
All the best
Al

Thanks for replying, a slight update now, in the past hour she has been a bit restless and panting in between sleeps, so fingers crossed this could be the start...........will keep you updated with any news asap.

Hi,
My bitch Miranda went to Day 64 for her whelping and had a litter of 14. Then for her second litter, she whelped on day 59! So don't worry! Keep us informed of how many etc. What breed?

Hello
My girl safely delivered 7 healthy pups early hours this morning, mum settling in nicely to her motherly duties, I'm completely shattered but glad it's all over..............so she whelped on day 65! only had one mating on day 12
Thanks for all your help
