My whippet bitch, aged nearly 6 years, yelps when you pick her up under her chest. She just stands about and doesn't lie down except awkwardly. She has no lumps and is still eating although not a lot. We have another whippet bitch, her sister, who is definitely top dog. She has been to the vets and he, without x-raying her, can find nothing wrong. She looks extremely miserable. Can anyone help?

Helloe Evelyn,
Poor you and your poor whippet!! :( I would personally suggest you take her to a doggie chiropractor (a mctimony one would be best) because you would be surprised what they can help with. It could be unrelated to her chest and could be her spine or neck thats causing a problem.
We have used one near Surrey and she is fantastic, if you mail me privately (click on my name), I will give you her details. It has made such a difference to the dogs we have taken (beardies are mad and often run into each other, other dogs or trees :D ).
This I am sure will help, we even had a bitch who the vet X-rayed in loads of different positions and could find nothing, but when we took her to see the chiropractor, she found that her pelvis was twisted, she has 2 vertebrae out of line in her neck and her spine was curved!!!!!!! After treatment (it took a few goes to get it right), she was a completely different dog. This all happened after an attack by a nasty Rottie that lives in the village and escaped from the owners garden.
I would certainly think about it!! :)
