Hi =) i need to know if west highland terriers are loud, or need lots of exercise or anything. are they good for a family who doesn't have someone home all the time? would they be okay if my family were out from about 7 or 8 in the morning until around 6 or 7 at night 5 days of the week? Thanks a ton =)

NO is the simplest answer to your question..............a dog should NEVER be left alone 5 days a week for 10-11 hours a day!! Why do you feel you need a dog if you are never at home?

No they wouldn't be okay being left all that time. It's unkind to any dog. Wait till your circumstances have changed before you even think about it. 3 to 4 hours is the maximum it should be left alone.

Your lifestyle and time available may be more suited to owning a cat. Cats are not a pack animal so so not crave company in the same way that dogs do, and with a cat flap the cat can do as it pleases while you are out, and have some petting when you are home.
