Hi, Wondering if anyone can help with any information on exporting dogs. My parents are thinking of moving to Spain and they have a min.poodle. They have phoned some airlines who have said they will not take a dog under 10months old, surely there must be a way of flying them out younger, people export puppies don't they? Any help would be gladly received. Also, if a breeder has put a restriction on export pedigree, what is the liklihood they'll lift it? they don't want to breed, dog is purely a pet and they want to take her with them, (pup is 3 months at moment)

For the export of the dog try a company called Skymaster based at Manchester airport. They will sort out everything from the flight to the carrier for the pup.
They will also advise you the requirements for entry of the country the pup is going to. I think for Spain it is a DAFRA form signed by your vet and if over 3 months old possibly a rabies shot.
As far as the restriction for export on the KC form. I don't think this restriction can stop the dog been exported but it can stop the dog being registered with the Kennel Club for the new country. If there is no intention to show or breed in the country then no problem, but I dare say if the circumstances were explained to the breeder she would lift the restriction.
KC papers are not needed to export as mongrel dogs are exported by pet owners too.

Different airlines have different regulations. Easisest way is to use a shipper, who will do all paperwork etc, but this costs a lot more than the diy method. BA fly to various airports in spain, and take dogs. It is usually a matter od finding out which airport you want to depart from/arrive at, call the airport to find out the airlines doing the route you want, and call the airlines to find out if they ship dogs. Whilst BA (and a lot ofothers)will only fly dogs as cargo several European (And American) airlines will take them as excess baggage, which can be a lot cheaper.

As staffie said, endorsed pedigree does not stop you exporting, only registering.

If its any help we put export endorsements on oour pedigrees and will quite happily remove them if some one is genuinley moving abroad they are only there to stop the dog being sold to a country who`s animal care is not up to the same standard as ours!
I would ring your breeder she should be happy to help as long as she/he is satisfied the dog is just moving abroad with the family!
